App discovery is moving into the chat window
People used to find apps by searching the store. Increasingly they ask an assistant instead: "best meditation apps", "app to plan a trip with friends", "free mindfulness apps that actually work". The answer is a short list of three to five names - and if your app isn't in it, the store ranking you fought for never gets seen. That shift is why ASO now has a second audience: not just Apple's and Google's ranking algorithms, but the AI systems that read your listing and decide whether it's worth recommending.
What this checker actually grades
AI assistants can't install your app - they judge it entirely by its public footprint. This tool reads that footprint the way they do: does the description open with a plain sentence an assistant can quote? Is there enough natural-language text to understand who the app is for? Do the ratings clear the bar that "best app" roundups apply? Does the listing link a live developer site an engine can cite? Is there a verified listing on the other store, under the same name? Twenty signals, each pass / warn / fail, each with the concrete fix - the full methodology is in why AI doesn't recommend your app.
What the score can't tell you
A clean listing means assistants can recommend you; it doesn't prove they do. Engines disagree with each other, answers drift week to week, and the only way to know is to ask them the real questions and track the answers - which is what the engine audit does - free on ChatGPT and Gemini, across all five engines on Pro. Start with the listing fixes here, then work the full playbook.
