Get your app recommended by AI assistants.
People now ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok which app to download. Zene checks whether they name your app, whether they cite your own App Store or Google Play listing, and what to fix on the listing so they do.
Your listing has a second reader now.
App Store Optimization was built for one reader: the store's ranking algorithm. Keywords, conversion rate and ratings decide where you land in a store search. That still matters - but a growing share of app discovery starts somewhere else: someone asks an assistant for "the best budgeting app for couples" and gets a short list of a few names.
An assistant can't install your app. It judges the public footprint: your listing text, your ratings, your developer site, and the reviews and roundups that mention you. If that footprint doesn't say plainly what the app does and for whom, the assistant picks an app whose footprint does.
So AI-era ASO adds a second job: be quotable and citable. A description that opens with what the app is for, a developer site an engine can cite, the same identity on both stores - signals a store algorithm barely weighs, and the ones assistants lean on.
Four questions, answered for your app.
Real answers from the engines plus a deterministic audit of your public listings - no store console access, nothing to install.
We ask the engines the questions people ask when choosing an app - "best budgeting app for iPhone", "free budgeting app for Android", "alternatives to" a rival - and record whether your app is named, and where. An app question pack builds these from your category and the stores you ship on.
When an engine names your app and shows its sources, we check whether it cites your own App Store or Google Play listing or a third-party page. That is your own-listing citation rate, per engine.
Listing quality, AI answerability, reputation, web presence and cross-platform presence - each signal pass / warn / fail with the exact fix. Linking listings and manual audits are free on every plan.
Weekly auto-audit on ProTrack the apps you compete with next to yours and see which ones the engines recommend instead of you. Rival listing breakdowns and the prioritized fix list come with Pro.
What AI can read on each store.
Assistants only see what is public. The two stores expose different fields - and some text you write never reaches an AI at all.
| Field | App Store (iOS) | Google Play (Android) |
|---|---|---|
| Listing link | apps.apple.com/…/id123… | play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=… |
| Name | Up to 30 characters | Up to 30 characters |
| Short pitch | Subtitle, up to 30 characters | Short description, up to 80 characters |
| Long text | Description, up to 4,000 characters | Full description, up to 4,000 characters |
| Keywords | A 100-character keyword field - private, so assistants never see it | No keyword field - the visible text carries the keywords |
| Privacy | App Privacy details on the listing | Data safety section on the listing |
| How Zene reads it | Apple's public iTunes Lookup API | The public Google Play listing page |
Ship on both stores? Link both - Zene asks iPhone and Android questions separately and audits each listing on its own, including whether it has a matching listing on the other store.

Questions about app tracking
Does Zene work for both iOS and Android apps?
Yes. Choose "Mobile app" when you sign up and link your App Store listing, your Google Play listing or both. Zene asks the engines iPhone- and Android-specific questions for the stores you ship on and audits each listing separately.
Do I need to install an SDK or give store console access?
No. Zene only uses public data: the store listings (Apple's public iTunes Lookup API for iOS, the public Google Play page for Android), your developer website and the AI engines' answers. Nothing to install, no App Store Connect or Play Console access.
How is this different from classic ASO tools?
ASO tools track your rank inside the App Store and Google Play. Zene tracks a different surface: whether AI assistants name your app when people ask them for a recommendation, and which sources they cite when they do. The two overlap - a clear, well-rated listing helps both - but a top store rank doesn't guarantee an AI recommendation.
Which AI engines do you check?
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok. The Free plan scans ChatGPT and Gemini on demand; the paid plans scan all 5 automatically.
What does it cost to track an app?
Linking your listings and running listing audits by hand is free on every plan, and the Free plan tracks 10 questions on ChatGPT and Gemini. Pro adds automatic scans on all 5 engines, 15 tracked questions, weekly automatic listing audits with score history, rival-app breakdowns and the prioritized action plan.
What is the own-listing citation rate?
Of the answers that name your app, the share in which the engine cites your own App Store or Google Play listing as a source (answers whose sources can't be attributed are left out). It shows whether engines lean on your listing or on third-party pages when they recommend you.
Can I check an app without signing up?
Yes. The free App AI visibility checker grades any public App Store or Google Play listing on the same 20 signals, no account needed. Signing up adds what a listing check can't tell you: whether the engines actually recommend the app.
